Our School Day - Nigel Bowes Academy
Our day begins at 08:50 with Breakfast club, which is an opportunity for pupils to start the day positively, enjoy eating with others, developing social skills and preparing for a learning focused day. During breakfast club, which is free of charge, pupils can choose from a selection of cereals or toast. We also provide water or milk.
Towards the end of breakfast club a member of the Senior Leadership Team will begin the daily celebration assembly to recognise achievements from the previous day. These mentions will also be uploaded to Marvellous Me so parents can celebrate this at home. On Friday, Learning of the Week certificates are awarded to pupils who have made significant progress or achievements that week.
The first lessons of the day are English and Maths. These lessons are highly personalised to ensure that all pupils are supported and that learning is targeted to meet their individual abilities.
Morning break time starts at 10:40 and is an opportunity for pupils to enjoy some outdoor time together and further develop their friendships. The 20-minute session includes opportunities for a snack (fruit is available to all pupils free of charge) and time to learn about what is happening in our country and around the world.
Following break time, pupils will have a range of lessons including; Science, PE, Computing, Personal Development, Design Technology, Art, Music, PHSE, Humanities and languages.
Lunchtime is staggered in 2 sittings between 12:45 and 13:15. Pupils eat together in class groups in the hall, where hot meals are available (either purchased in advance or through the Local Authorities ‘Free School Meal’ scheme) or bringing in a healthy packed lunch.
Lessons continue after lunch and school finishes at 14:35 on Monday – Thursday and 13:20 on Friday.
