Admissions - Nigel Bowes Academy

Admission to Nigel Bowes Academy is achieved through a number of routes. As a specialist provision for children with social, emotional and/or mental health needs, we can be named as the school of choice on an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), formerly known as a Statement of Special Educational Needs.

In addition, we have a limited number of places for pupils who are referred to us for fixed-term exclusion packages from Day 6 (or earlier by agreement) from their mainstream school, or come to us if permanently excluded before their managed move on to another mainstream provision has been agreed.

Schools looking for a short-term, temporary placement for a pupil whilst additional strategies and support are identified can request a ‘Purchased Place’. The placement is also designed to enable the pupil to get back on track before returning to their mainstream provision, once these new strategies have been put into place.
